Esperanza attended an Amgen Teach course November 2015 at the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation. She was really enthusiastic about the Amgen Teach activities because she has been looking for innovative for motivating her students. One of the methods she discovered was role playing: "this technique is very useful when you want to put the students into a specific role; for example, if you want to work with your students what might be the advantages and disadvantages of vaccination, you can use the Role Playing."

During the trainings she also realized the importance of changing her teaching methodologies, not only in relation to new fields of study and resources, but also on how to work research-based methodologies and interaction. Actually, teachers attending the courses visited the CREAL in Barcelona (Epidemiological Research Centre) and performed Role Playing in connection to topics such as lifestyles and diseases. Participants were also provided with all the necessary materials to do these activities in their class.

Finally, Esperanza is looking forward to participate in the next Amgen Teach DLA, she believes that the materials given during the online courses, are excellent tools to use with her science students in a motivational environment directed by professionals.
