Participation in Amgen Teach programme: National training in Paris

Fatima is an experienced French teacher, who joined the Amgen Teach Community during the third year of the programme.

When asked about Amgen Teach, Fatima responds by saying, "I was lucky enough to participate in two Amgen Teach trainings in France. Both trainings consisted of inquiry-based workshops. The way the training engages teachers is very inspiring and it is always useful to learn about new subjects where I can apply IBSE."

Fatima also explains, "Two colleagues of mine, from the same middle school, also participated in the training. We collaborated prior, during and post the training to engage our students in activities linked to the training. We developed supporting pedagogical materials, for example, our students had the opportunity to create a game that was used during the middle school festival."

Currently, some of her students face social difficulties, and Fatima highlights the fact that "teachers need to use innovative strategies to keep them engaged. Even though I am experienced, I  like IBSE training  because it helps me understand my student' perspectives a little bit more. Every time, I work with a  different group of teachers on inquiry-based activities. I am exposed to different aspects and see some my students' reactions in myself! This gives me valuable insights about how to best support and motivate them."
