The "Deutsche Museum" (official name: Deutsches Museum von Meisterwerken der Naturwissenschaft und Technik, German museum of masterpieces of natural science and technology) in Munich was founded in the year 1903 and today is the largest natural science and technology museum in the world. It exhibits approximately 28,000 objects from some 50 areas in natural sciences and technology and is visited by 1.5 million people annually.

The Deutsche Museum has a wealth of experience in training teachers of natural sciences. The Kerschensteiner College, a professional development centre for teachers and students at the Deutsche Museum, has almost 40 years of experience in the advanced training of teachers in the fields of natural sciences and technology and provides further training for approximately 500 teachers every year.

As part of this initiative, secondary level natural science teachers visit the Deutsche Museum on two days where they attend lectures and laboratory workshops to get acquainted with interactive learning opportunities.
