Mercedes is an experienced Spanish teacher, who joined the Amgen Teach Community during the third year of the programme.

When asked about Amgen Teach, Mercedes responds by saying, "I found the process of learning about medicines, entrepreneurship in research, drug recycling, and the concept of medicines as a food supplement extremely interesting. I can include all these concepts in the subjects ‘Science for the Contemporary World' and "Entrepreneurship in Chemistry."

Mercedes also explains, "I now  initiate debates on medicine, biotechnology and nanotechnology with my students. The training techniques have helped me facilitate an open yet respectful discussion  I also valued the opportunity of exchanging ideas, methodology and experiments with other Chemistry teachers during the training."

Currently, her students are engaged in various chemistry projects. However, as Mercedes points out ,"I have noticed that when our senior students have to choose the topic for their Batxillerat Research Project, they have mostly selected topics related to concepts that feature prominently in Amgen Teach."
