Dilek is a Turkish science teacher, who has recently joined the Amgen Teach Community.
When asked about how Amgen Teach enhanced her confidence and ability to use inquiry-based science education in her classroom, she explains, "After Amgen Teach, I feel I can implement inquiry-based science education in my classroom. I observed so many unexpected changes not only for me personally, but also for my students. If you ask me what is the difference between Amgen Teach and other training courses, the most important and obvious difference is the ongoing support provided by all members of the Amgen Teach project team throughout the classroom implementation process. This shows the training provider's commitment and passion for this project. This new teaching methodology really helps me to handle classroom challenges better."
Dilek adds, "The activity that I select for the first ten minutes of the lesson increases students' curiosity much more than before. They are learning how to question. Once they question their understanding of the science concepts, they are also able to transfer what they have learned into new contexts."
Currently, her students are engaged in various projects, where Dilek can use the IBSE approach, because as she points out, "The students start to formulate research questions together. They start to conduct experiments and complete research in order to find answers to their questions. They start to question the reliability of resources. It is so wonderful to see these incredible changes in their attitude!"
