Participation in Amgen Teach programme: National training in Vienna

Sandra is an experienced primary school Austrian teacher, who has recently joined the Amgen Teach Community.

When asked about how Amgen Teach enhanced her confidence and ability to use inquiry-based science education in her classroom, she responds by saying that she learnt more about "how to present students with a problem and let them think, discuss and try to solve it on their own with guidance provided, only if required." Sandra also highlights that the training helped her organise her thoughts, data, hypotheses and results on paper.

Sandra says that after the Amgen Teach training, she started using a different way to approach problem-solving. Instead of explaining concepts, she allowed the students to spend more time discussing each lesson and she helped them reach a conclusion with step-by-step instructions.

Currently, her students spend most of their time engaging with projects like the electric circuit. "In my current class, circuits are being built differently with switches being made, using different materials. We talk about individual progress, share ideas, and some students even attach more components to their circuitry."
